ZMA Won’t Help You Build Muscle!

You got that right. One of the most popular muscle building and weight gain supplements out on the market isn’t going to help you build one ounce of muscle.

ZMA, which is zinc - magnesium supplement that’s specialized, was originally brought out by BALCO-infamous Victor Conte. The main claim and reason as to why so many weight lifters will shell out their hard earned cash is that it allegedly raises your body’s natural testosterone levels. Testosterone is one the main sex hormones of the body that directly is involved in building muscle mass, strength, and burning body fat.

As soon as ZMA became popular, you began to see all of the knock off from many other bodybuilding supplement companies copying the product. However, just because something is advertised as doing something, like raising your body’s natural testosterone levels, doesn’t necessarily mean that it raises it high enough to actually be of any muscle building significance, or that it even does it at all.

There are have been several studies that have recently been conducted that have shown that while having enough zinc is vital for the functioning of immune cells known as T cells, getting too much zinc will actually stop the immune reactions of the body……..not good.

It has also been proven in studies that a supplement such as ZMA may help some individuals to have normal and healthy zinc and magnesium levels, strictly for health purposes, it actually won’t raise your body’s testosterone levels……….the main reason most take it in the first place.

So, not only are you not getting any real muscle building or weight gaining benefits, but you may actually even be suppressing your body’s immune system.
